I stumbled into the environmental movement in 1995, when my husband and I drove 12,500 miles around the country from the Atlantic to the Pacific and “discovered” the NATIONAL PARK SYSTEM. People from all over the world were out sightseeing, but we counted a total of FOUR Black Americans. We decided to do something about it and have been working to integrate the system ever since

Why should consumers work with you?

I am one of very few Black women environmentalists who understands the complexities of climate change from the perspective of how it will affect Black people, and what can be done to minimize the effects.
